This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mid-Level Federal Budget SME based in the United States.

This is a fully remote opportunity to apply deep federal budgeting expertise to the development of next-generation planning and reporting solutions.
You’ll work alongside designers, developers, implementation specialists, and federal stakeholders to translate complex financial processes into practical technology.
The role combines government budget expertise, business process analysis, requirements gathering, product design, testing, and customer engagement.
You’ll help shape dashboards, workflows, reports, and planning functionality that improve how federal organizations manage budgets and spend plans.
Your knowledge will directly influence product priorities, customer demonstrations, implementation activities, and ongoing solution enhancements.
The environment is collaborative, technically minded, and focused on delivering innovative solutions to federal customers.
This role is particularly well suited to a curious and organized federal budget professional who enjoys turning complex processes into intuitive solutions.

Accountabilities:
  • Apply deep knowledge of federal budgeting and financial management processes to help design, enhance, and deploy planning and reporting functionality.
  • Partner with UX designers and technical teams to develop useful dashboards, input forms, reports, workflows, and other application capabilities.
  • Translate complex government budget processes into clear business and functional requirements that can be understood by technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Conduct business process analysis to identify opportunities for improving budgeting, planning, reporting, and spend-management workflows.
  • Gather, document, and validate requirements throughout the implementation lifecycle, working closely with delivery and technical teams.
  • Use mockups, process flow diagrams, and other visual tools to communicate proposed functionality and support effective solution design.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to prioritize product and roadmap requirements based on customer needs and business value.
  • Engage directly with federal customers and take an active role in solution demonstrations, discussions, and requirements validation.
  • Support software releases by coordinating testing, validating functionality, and ensuring appropriate documentation is completed.
  • Develop test plans, test scenarios, and test cases, and coordinate or manage testing execution through completion.
  • Create and maintain relevant documentation, including administrative guides, end-user documentation, training materials, online help, and other product resources.
  • Work closely with designers and developers to continuously improve the solution and ensure that functionality reflects real-world federal budgeting practices.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience working with U.S. government budgets and spend plans.
  • Deep understanding of federal financial management processes, including budget formulation, spend plans, position planning, budget execution, working capital funds, and reimbursable agreements.
  • Strong business process analysis and requirements-gathering capabilities, with the ability to translate government processes into clear functional requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deliverables, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex government processes to individuals without federal-government experience.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a genuine willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and business processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong general technology skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams; coding experience is not required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Experience deploying financial planning, budgeting, or business intelligence applications is highly desirable.
  • Experience with enterprise planning platforms such as SAP BPC, SAP Analytics Cloud, OneStream, Oracle, Hyperion, Anaplan, or comparable solutions is a plus.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting platforms such as SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar tools is preferred.
  • SQL experience and application-testing experience are advantageous.
  • Strong collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with UX designers, developers, implementation teams, customers, and other stakeholders.
Benefits:
  • Salary: $89,100–$148,500 USD annually, with compensation determined by factors such as geographic location, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and applicable federal contract requirements.
  • 100% remote work within the United States.
  • Full-time position supporting a multi-year federal contract.
  • Opportunity to work on next-generation budgeting, planning, and reporting technology used to support federal customers.
  • Collaborative environment alongside experienced designers, developers, implementation specialists, and government-domain experts.
  • Competitive overall compensation package with opportunities for professional development and learning.
  • Health insurance options to support employee and family well-being.
  • Paid leave and time-off benefits.
  • Retirement benefits to support long-term financial planning.
  • Opportunity to contribute to innovative digital transformation initiatives supporting federal missions.
  • Equal employment opportunity and reasonable accommodation support for qualified applicants.
  • Please note that the position does not provide new employment visa or immigration sponsorship.
