Job Description

Chief of Staff - Commercial Strategy

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chief of Staff - Commercial Strategy based in the United States.

This is a high-impact strategic role at the intersection of commercial growth, healthcare strategy, and executive leadership.
You will identify and launch new growth opportunities across markets, partnerships, and product-led initiatives.
The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, taking ideas from initial sizing and business cases through to measurable traction.
You will work closely with Commercial, Product, Clinical, Finance, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to align priorities and accelerate growth.
You will also play a central role in strengthening GTM execution, competitive positioning, and executive-level visibility.
As a trusted partner to senior leadership, you will help drive operating rhythms, board preparation, and strategic initiatives across the organization.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced healthcare strategist who thrives in ambiguity, influence, and high-ownership environments.

Accountabilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new growth opportunities across new verticals, strategic partnerships, products, solutions, and go-to-market motions.
  • Build compelling business cases covering market opportunity, financial rationale, required resources, risks, competitive positioning, and expected outcomes.
  • Partner with Product, Clinical, Value Enablement, Thought Leadership, Partnerships, and other subject-matter experts to shape and validate new initiatives.
  • Develop differentiated GTM positioning based on market intelligence, buyer needs, competitive dynamics, and measurable customer outcomes.
  • Translate strategic opportunities into practical execution plans, coordinating cross-functional workstreams, resolving dependencies, and maintaining momentum through initial traction.
  • Define success criteria and track progress against strategic commitments, ensuring initiatives remain focused on measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Strengthen the broader GTM motion through competitive intelligence, win/loss analysis, market research, and field insights.
  • Collaborate with commercial enablement and solutions teams to improve discovery-to-proposal velocity, solution credibility, and RFP quality.
  • Partner with finance and actuarial stakeholders to strengthen financial modeling, risk quantification, and ROI frameworks for complex healthcare opportunities.
  • Facilitate cross-functional strategic meetings, maintain project visibility, remove blockers, and communicate commercial progress and risks to senior leadership.
  • Help shape and operate the executive committee cadence, including agendas, pre-read materials, decision capture, and follow-through.
  • Support board meeting preparation by creating clear, consistent narratives across commercial, product, and financial priorities.
  • Own strategic cross-functional projects and special initiatives, proactively identifying stalled work and driving resolution across teams and executives.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in healthcare GTM strategy, strategy consulting, commercial leadership, or a closely related field.
  • Deep knowledge of the payer or provider landscape, including value-based care, population health, risk adjustment, quality, and Stars.
  • Demonstrated success taking a B2B healthcare growth concept from market assessment and business case development through GTM execution and measurable traction.
  • Experience working directly with executives or boards on operating rhythms, strategic initiatives, meeting preparation, cross-functional tracking, and follow-through.
  • Strong understanding of commercial strategy, market sizing, competitive positioning, financial modeling, and GTM planning.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Product, Clinical, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and executive stakeholders while creating alignment around shared objectives.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where problems are not fully defined and the appropriate strategy and execution plan must be built from the ground up.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to develop concise and compelling narratives for executive, board, and customer audiences.
  • Strong ownership mentality, sound judgment, structured problem-solving skills, and the ability to turn strategic recommendations into action.
  • Experience with data and analytics platforms serving payers, providers, ACOs, or risk-bearing organizations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with self-funded employers, risk-bearing entities, or other healthcare-adjacent buyer segments is a plus.
  • Previous Chief of Staff or strategy-and-operations experience supporting a CEO, executive committee, or senior leadership team is preferred.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation: $180,000–$220,000 annual salary.
  • Strong benefits package designed to support employee well-being and long-term success.
  • Professional development: Employee-driven programs and initiatives supporting personal and career growth.
  • Purpose-driven environment: Opportunity to contribute to meaningful transformation across the healthcare industry.
  • Collaborative culture: Work alongside a talented, diverse, energized, and mission-focused team.
  • High-impact scope: Direct exposure to senior leadership, strategic initiatives, commercial growth, and board-level priorities.
  • Remote flexibility: Remote position available to candidates based in the United States.
