Position Summary
Capital Waste Services is seeking a safety-focused and dependable Roll-Off Driver to operate roll-off trucks and transport open-top containers, compactors, and waste materials between customer locations, transfer stations, recycling facilities, and landfills. The Roll-Off Driver is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
This position requires strong driving skills, situational awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to safely navigate construction sites, industrial facilities, commercial properties, and public roadways.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Roll-Off Operations
Safely operate a Roll-Off truck in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
Deliver, exchange, and remove roll-off containers at customer locations.
Transport waste, recycling, construction debris, and other approved materials to designated disposal or recycling facilities.
Properly secure containers and loads before transport.
Ensure containers are positioned safely and accurately at customer locations.
Complete assigned routes and service requests efficiently and on schedule.
Navigate construction sites, commercial facilities, and other challenging operating environments safely.
Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Complete DVIRs, route sheets, and other required documentation accurately.
Report vehicle defects, equipment failures, accidents, or safety concerns immediately.
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of assigned vehicles.
Assist in identifying preventive maintenance needs.
Safety & Compliance
Comply with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, state, local, and company safety regulations.
Practice defensive driving techniques at all times.
Monitor overhead clearances, utility lines, structures, and other hazards during container placement and retrieval.
Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and company development programs.
Immediately report accidents, injuries, property damage, spills, or environmental incidents.
Customer Service
Interact professionally with customers, contractors, site supervisors, and the public.
Resolve minor service issues and communicate customer concerns promptly to management.
Represent Capital Waste Services in a professional manner at all times.
Administrative Responsibilities
Complete timesheets, route documentation, scale tickets, fuel logs, and inspection forms accurately.
Utilize onboard technology, tablets, dispatch software, and route management systems as required.
Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and medical qualifications.
Qualifications
Required
Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Valid DOT Medical Card.
Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Ability to meet company insurability requirements.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, and DOT physical.
Minimum age of 21 years.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
Preferred
1+ years of Roll-Off driving experience.
Previous waste industry, construction, transportation, or heavy equipment experience.
Experience servicing construction sites and industrial customers.
Knowledge of landfill and transfer station operations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Thorough understanding of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
Ability to safely operate hydraulic roll-off equipment.
Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong time-management and organizational abilities.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
Frequently enter and exit commercial vehicles throughout the day.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and climb.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with vehicle operation and inspections.
Work Environment
Outdoor work environment with exposure to traffic, weather, dust, noise, and waste materials.
Frequent interaction with construction sites, industrial facilities, transfer stations, and landfill operations.
