The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Project Manager for the Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)/Fire & Industrial Solutions Product Engineering Team located in Monroe, NC, you will play a critical role in leading cross-functional engineering programs that ensure product continuity, quality, supply stability, and business execution for life safety products.
You will lead multiple concurrent engineering change projects from initiation through implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives while delivering on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will serve as the primary point of coordination and communication among stakeholders, fostering collaboration across Product Engineering, Embedded Software, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and other functional teams. You will proactively identify and mitigate project risks, manage schedules and budgets, coordinate resources, and provide clear, timely communication on project status, milestones, and key decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional Product Engineering projects from initiation through successful completion, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
- Manage a portfolio of engineering change programs including:
- Supplier qualification and transition projects
- Alternate material qualifications
- New tooling and manufacturing process implementation
- Component obsolescence mitigation
- Business continuity initiatives
- Line-down recovery projects
- Product quality and corrective action programs
- Cost reduction initiatives
- Product sustainment activities - Support product portfolio planning by developing project estimates, evaluating resource requirements, identifying opportunities for process improvements, and recommending strategies to optimize project execution and delivery.
- Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests while driving timely resolution and mitigation strategies.
- Utilize modern project management tools to improve project visibility, resource planning, risk assessment, and decision-making.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate integrated project plans, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and key milestones.
- Monitor project performance using key metrics and reporting tools, providing regular status updates and executive-level communications to stakeholders.
- Coordinate project reviews and cross-functional meetings, ensuring action items, decisions, and deliverables are documented and completed on schedule.
- Drive issue resolution by partnering with technical teams, removing roadblocks, escalating critical concerns when appropriate, and maintaining focus on project objectives.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project charters, schedules, budgets, risk registers, meeting minutes, action logs, and project status reports.
Your Skills and Expertise
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university (completed and verified prior to start)
- Five (5) years of project management experience supporting electro-mechanical products, manufacturing, or engineered hard goods in a private, public, government, or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex technical projects simultaneously.
- Understanding engineering change management and product lifecycle processes.
- Excellent communication, organizational, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- PMP® Certification
- Experience with JIRA and Microsoft Project
- Experience with Engineering Change Management or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (ENOVIA preferred).
- Experience in highly regulated industries such as industrial safety, medical devices, aerospace, automotive, or defense.
- Familiarity with supplier qualification, product validation, manufacturing process changes, risk management, or corrective action processes.
- Experience managing projects supporting business continuity, supplier transitions, or product sustainment.
Work location:
- This role is required to work on-site at the Monroe, NC facility and is not a remote position.
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
