Vision House is a nonprofit Christian organization helping families with children break the cycle of homelessness. Through transitional housing, programs, and supportive services, we provide families in Washington State with opportunities for life change to overcome trauma, generational poverty, and situational homelessness. Position Summary
The Alumni Support Specialist plays a key role in Vision House's Family Transitions Program by providing ongoing support and follow-up services to families after they transition into permanent housing.
This position helps promote long-term housing stability through regular participant engagement, housing advocacy, resource navigation, landlord communication, and light case management. The Alumni Support Specialist works closely with participants, landlords, community partners, and Vision House staff to identify and address barriers that could impact housing retention and long-term success.
The Alumni Support Specialist also gathers program outcome data, maintains accurate records, and supports opportunities for continued participant engagement through alumni events, support groups, and community-building activities.

Classification
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Schedule
25 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with one regular evening per week and occasional additional evenings based on program needs. One Saturday in December for Alumni Christmas party.
Location
Primary location in Shoreline, WA, with regular travel to Renton, WA and other community locations as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Housing Stability Support
- Maintain regular contact with program graduates to assess housing stability and identify emerging needs.
- Provide strength-based, trauma-informed support focused on maintaining permanent housing.
- Assist participants in identifying and addressing barriers that may impact housing retention.
- Connect participants with community resources and supportive services.
Housing Advocacy and Landlord Relations
- Serve as a liaison between participants and landlords when housing concerns arise.
- Support conflict resolution and mediation efforts related to tenancy issues.
- Assist participants in understanding tenant rights and responsibilities.
- Maintain knowledge of local housing resources and landlord-tenant regulations.
Transition Planning
- Collaborate with Family Program staff and Diversion Specialists to support successful transitions into permanent housing.
- Participate in transition planning and handoffs before participant exit.
- Assist participants with housing search preparation and housing retention planning.
Community Engagement
- Organize and facilitate alumni gatherings, support groups, educational workshops, and seasonal events.
- Encourage continued connection with Vision House support systems and resources.
- Promote community building among former program participants.
Data Collection and Reporting
- Collect and maintain participant outcome data.
- Maintain accurate case notes and participant records.
- Prepare monthly and program-specific reports.
- Track housing outcomes and participant engagement metrics.
Team Participation
- Participate in program meetings, supervision, and staff trainings.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve services and participant outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree in Human Services, Social Services, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
Experience
- Two or more years of experience working with families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or other vulnerable populations preferred.
- Experience in case management, housing navigation, housing retention, or supportive services strongly preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.
- Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing techniques.
- Understanding of Housing First and harm reduction principles.
- Knowledge of landlord-tenant laws and housing resources in Washington State.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with participants, landlords, and community partners.
- Ability to work independently while remaining highly collaborative.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to work occasional evenings.
- Ability to affirm Vision House's Statement of Faith.
- Active follower of Jesus Christ.
