Salem Sports Events is seeking a Director of Sales to join our Business Development / Sales leadership team. This key leadership role will directly be responsible for new business growth while leading, mentoring, and developing our Business Development Manager (BDM) team.
The Director of Sales will provide strategic direction, coaching, mentorship, and day to day support to the sales organization while helping drive overall team performance and growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), this position will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Estimating, Design, Operations, and Project Management to develop and execute winning strategies that strengthen client partnerships and expand Salem’s reach across sports, experiential marketing, on-site live event activations, and design-build projects.

What You’ll Do
Sales Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and motivate a growing team of Business Development Managers to achieve company revenue and growth targets.
Develop strategic plans focused on new business acquisition and expanding relationships with agencies, leagues, brands, and event organizers.
Coach and develop team members in prospecting, relationship management, and consultative selling.
Conduct consistent one-on-one meetings, pipeline reviews, and strategic planning sessions to drive accountability and growth.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and excellence.
Business Development & Client Management
Build and maintain long-term partnerships that lead to repeat projects and multi-year contracts.
Develop strategic proposals alongside internal design, estimating, and production teams.
Represent Salem Sports Events at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings.
Strategy & Growth
Partner with the CRO to enhance sales processes, CRM utilization, and forecasting accuracy.
Contribute to revenue strategy, go-to-market planning, and sales targets by vertical.
Identify emerging markets, client segments, and partnership opportunities.
Collaborate with Commercial Operations and Marketing teams to align outreach, branding, campaigns, RFPs, and promotional materials with sales objectives.
What We’re Looking For
7–10+ years of proven sales leadership experience, preferably within live events, experiential marketing, design/build, or related industries.
Demonstrated success in individual sales performance and leading high-performing teams.
Strong business acumen with the ability to build trusted relationships at the C-suite and agency level.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Strategic thinker with a hands-on mentality and willingness to roll up your sleeves when needed.
CRM experience and a strong understanding of sales pipeline management.
Ability to travel for client meetings, site visits, and industry events as needed.
