Production Scheduler & Purchasing Coordinator – Pillow Manufacturing Facility

Position SummaryThe Production Scheduler & Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring production schedules while managing purchasing activities to ensure uninterrupted pillow manufacturing operations. This role serves as a critical link between production, inventory control, suppliers, and management, balancing customer demand, material availability, and manufacturing capacity to achieve on-time delivery, cost control, and operational efficiency.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Scheduling- Develop, maintain, and adjust daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules for pillow manufacturing lines based on forecasts, customer orders, and capacity constraints.
- Coordinate with production supervisors to sequence work orders efficiently, considering labor availability, machine capacity, and changeover requirements.
- Monitor production progress and revise schedules as needed to address delays, quality issues, equipment downtime, or material shortages.
- Communicate schedules and changes clearly to production, warehouse, and quality teams.
- Track key production metrics such as schedule adherence, throughput, and on-time completion.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders for raw materials and components, including fabrics, fillings (fiber, foam, down/feather), packaging materials, and consumables.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels by balancing production needs, lead times, and carrying costs.
- Work with approved suppliers to confirm pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Follow up on open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolve discrepancies related to quantity, quality, or documentation.
- Coordinate with receiving and quality teams on incoming material inspections and nonconforming materials.
- Maintain accurate records of production schedules, purchase orders, inventory levels, and supplier information within SAP/=ERP or MRP systems.
- Perform routine inventory reviews and assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Analyze usage trends and historical data to support forecasting and purchasing decisions.
- Act as a liaison between sales/customer service, production, warehouse, and accounting to align demand, supply, and financial controls.
- Support new product introductions or changes by coordinating material availability and updating schedules accordingly.
- Assist management with operational reports and ad hoc analyses as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in supply chain, operations management, or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in production scheduling, purchasing, or supply chain coordination in a manufacturing environment; textile or bedding industry experience is a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling principles and purchasing processes.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with SAP.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and implement practical solutions.
- Manufacturing plant and office environment.
- Regular interaction with production floor personnel.
- Requires overtime to support production demands or inventory activities.
