This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Federal Account Director, Northeast Region based in the United States.
This role is a senior, field-based commercial leadership position focused on expanding access to oncology therapies within key U.S. federal healthcare systems. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic account plans across major federal customers, including VA, DoD, IHS, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Acting as a trusted partner to complex healthcare organizations, you will build long-term relationships with clinical and procurement stakeholders while navigating market access pathways. The role requires deep expertise in federal contracting and oncology commercialization, as well as the ability to coordinate cross-functional internal teams to remove barriers to patient access. You will collaborate closely with sales, market access, and leadership teams to ensure alignment and execution of national and regional strategies. This is a high-impact role where strategic thinking, stakeholder influence, and execution excellence directly contribute to improving access to critical cancer therapies.
In this role, you will lead federal account strategy execution and relationship development across the Northeast Region, ensuring successful market access and contract implementation.
- Develop and execute strategic business and market access plans for assigned federal accounts, including VA, DoD, IHS, AMSUS, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers such as pharmacy directors, medical directors, and procurement stakeholders
- Drive contract execution and ensure smooth implementation of agreements across assigned federal systems
- Identify and remove access barriers by collaborating with field sales, market access, and internal cross-functional teams
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement opportunities and connect internal experts with external partners for clinical and strategic exchanges
- Conduct market research and landscape analysis to uncover new partnership and growth opportunities
- Partner with internal leadership to align regional execution with broader commercial and access strategies
- Influence and coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure consistent and effective account management
This role requires extensive experience in pharmaceutical or biotech account management within federal healthcare systems, with strong oncology and market access expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- 7+ years of experience managing corporate or key accounts across multi-state or federal systems, particularly VA oncology accounts
- Proven experience in federal contracting and account management across complex healthcare organizations
- Strong oncology therapeutic area knowledge, with experience in oral and/or IV oncology strongly preferred
- Experience supporting product launches in the U.S. biotech or pharmaceutical market
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to evaluate and prioritize complex account opportunities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesize data and present clear market access insights
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with demonstrated success in account growth
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% across the Northeast Region
- Competitive annual base salary ranging from $189,300 to $249,300 depending on experience and location
