Has an opening for a
Youth Mental Health and Justice Counsellor
Part-Time contract Up to 24 hours per week
(until December 31, 2026 with possible extension)
HOURS: 24-hour workweek
SALARY: Starting at $36.95 per hour plus 10% in lieu of benefit
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction and supervision of the Manager of Community and Clinical Services and Manager of Community Services you will deliver high quality gender responsive programming and provide counselling services to youth presenting with complex behavioural, emotional, relational, and justice-related needs in a multi-disciplinary environment. You will perform these and other duties as may be required.
EDUCATION:
Degree or Diploma in a relevant field of study
Must be registered in good standing with the OCSWSSW (Registered Social Services Worker, Registered Social Worker) and a minimum of one to two years’ experience working in the field of Social Work or Social Service Work
QUALIFICATIONS:
Key Responsibilities
- Experience providing youth and families with individualized, practical, skill-oriented programming.
- Reports to the Manager of Community Services on all aspects of the youth caseload.
- Experience to document and report youth information through individual reports, clinical ratings, and other required forms as directed by the Manager of Community Services.
- Knowledge of case conferences as required and contribute to case planning.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community partners, including child protection, police, probation, education, health, youth justice, mental health, and other service providers, to support coordinated service planning.
- Communicate professionally with youth, families, caregivers, colleagues, supervisors, community partners, and external professionals while maintaining appropriate boundaries, confidentiality, and agency standards.
- Written communication to maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with agency policy, applicable legislation, reporting requirements, and clinical or service expectations.
- Work in compliance with agency policies and procedures, relevant legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, and standards of professional conduct.
Mandatory requirements
- Degree or Diploma in a relevant field of study
- Must be registered in good standing with the OCSWSSW (Registered Social Services Worker, Registered Social Worker) and a minimum of one to two years’ experience working in the field of Social Work or Social Service Work
- Up-to-date immunization status according to national standards, Hep B, a two-step TB test within the last two years
- Note from a physician indicating, “Fit to work.” Current First Aid Certificate/CPR.
- Valid Ontario G driver’s license and offence-free driving record; Drivers Abstract required and reliable transportation
- Criminal reference check, declaring suitability for vulnerable sector employment.
ASSET QUALIFICATION: Bilingualism (French/English); 6 months of volunteer experience

LOCATION: Kingston, Lanark, Leeds and Grenville, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington,
Prince Edward and Hastings counties.
