About This Position

JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Analyst Lead works under the supervision of the Manager of IT Applications and serves as the primary support and mentor for the Clinical Analyst team. The Lead is responsible for overseeing daily analyst operations, assisting in task and project prioritization, and ensuring team members maintain strong knowledge of all hospital-supported clinical applications.

The Clinical Analyst Lead coordinates the development and maintenance of Meditech, EPIC and various other applications, constantly seeking workflow improvements and efficiency gains for organizational staff. The role includes managing and helping implement system change requests across all assigned modules or applications and participating in the development and improvement of operational workflows and processes. The Lead also assists in the discovery and implementation of new technologies to enhance patient care, improve financial performance, and boost efficiency throughout the hospital.

Serves as a liaison between systems personnel and end users, such as a client or business unit. Provides systems analysis to ensure the needs of the user are met. May assist in system implementation or training. bachelor's degree preferred in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the daily activities of the Clinical Analyst team, including task assignments, prioritization, and progress tracking.
  • Oversees the implementation and support of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, computerized physician order entry systems, bed management systems, and other relevant health information systems.
  • Acts as a resource and mentor for analysts to ensure proficiency in supported systems and consistent standards of work quality.
  • Serves as a liaison between the analyst team and the Clinical Applications Manager, escalating issues and providing status updates as needed.
  • Provides direct support for Meditech, Epic, and other applications as needed, while staying current on organizational priorities and application developments.
  • Coordinates with departments to gather requirements, recommend solutions, and ensure analyst support aligns with clinical and operational needs.
  • Leads efforts to maintain and improve application documentation, workflows, and training materials.
  • Participates in planning and implementing system upgrades, changes, and optimizations in collaboration with IT leadership.
  • Communicates effectively with hospital staff, leadership, and vendors to ensure transparency, follow-through, and successful project execution.
  • Works with healthcare providers to identify useful clinical data and supports the design and implementation of analytics and reporting tools in collaboration with analysts and stakeholders.
  • Communicates with providers and management to learn the organization’s processes and priorities, and provides takeaways in the most accessible and convenient way.
  • Fosters a collaborative and customer service–focused culture among analysts.
  • Promotes knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team to ensure application knowledge is broadly distributed.
  • Ensures compliance with all organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving healthcare and/or financial practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
      • Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • License
    • None
  • Certifications
    • Certifications and/or proficiency in an EMR system are preferred.

  • Experience
    • At least two (2) years of health care experience and four (4) years analyst experience supporting an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
    • Four (4) years required working with clinical users to determine their needs and manage the changes to those specifications, including troubleshooting systems issues and modifying applications.
    • Minimum of one (1) year in a mentoring, training, or leadership role within an analyst or IT environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
  • The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and bring order to ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to multi-task while relaying technical information to both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Exceptional problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving ability with exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-orientated, collaborative environment.
  • Strong PC skills working within an integrated clinical systems environment.
