Position Summary
This role provides support for NEMA’s membership team, particularly for new corporate membership recruitment and retention. The Coordinator role is an ideal early career position as it provides broad exposure to membership services for a dynamic, forward-thinking trade association. This position requires in-office presence at NEMA’s office in Arlington, Virginia two days per week, with the occasional need for additional in-office days for major meetings or other events. The position requires periodic travel (3-6 times per year) to support NEMA events. The position reports to the Director, Membership Sales.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the position are to provide support for NEMA’s membership function, including the following:
- Learn the business and operations of NEMA members to best meet member needs, effectively communicate the NEMA value proposition, and identify areas for additional NEMA value opportunities
- Manage the member application process
- Support the onboarding of approximately 20-30 new members per year
- Research current NEMA members and NEMA member prospects to support member retention and recruitment
- Regularly update the NEMA member management database and be responsible for its ongoing accuracy
- Develop custom membership reports
- Resolve member questions and concerns through professional engagement, prompt responsiveness, and creative problem solving
- Assist in the writing, design, and production of member recruiting and retention marketing materials
- Plan and coordinate NEMA visits to member offices and facilities and member visits to NEMA headquarters
Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, an innovative spirit, keen attention to detail, an eagerness to learn, and outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Required qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree
- Proficiency in full MS Office suite of products
- Basic quantitative analytical skills
The following experience is preferred:
- Experience with members of a trade association or other membership organization, or similar client- or member-facing experience.
