About This Position

Sinai Urban Health Institute (SUHI) is a community-driven research center dedicated to achieving health equity across Chicago communities through excellence and innovation in data-driven research, interventions, evaluation, and collaboration. WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Oversees recruitment, enrollment and tracking of program and/or research participants, preparing regular reports of recruitment and intervention progress.

• Collects relevant information and performs literature searches for proposals, reports, and/or publications.

• Responsible for managing program literature, including the development of literature management databases, and for organizing electronic and hard copies of articles.

• Assists in the development and/or identification of data collection forms for program use.

• Collects data from program participants and survey respondents for research and/or evaluation purposes.

• Conducts qualitative interviews and focus groups with program participants.

• Gathers and compiles data from a variety of sources, including patient medical records, surveys, and publicly-available datasets for research and/or evaluation purposes.

• Enters program information into databases and maintains databases as required/assigned.

• With general guidance from an Epidemiologist or Program Manager, develops databases for data entry.

• May develop reports and/or queries to pull relevant data from databases for reporting purposes.

• Trains program staff on data collection and data entry procedures.

• Actively participates in meetings related to research or evaluation projects; documents notes and decisions made during meetings.

• Has a working knowledge of IRB policies and assists in the preparation of IRB documentation.

• Copying, emailing, mailing, faxing, scheduling meetings, and other administrative duties as needed.

• Develops procedures for maintaining databases, data records/files, and ensures staff follows procedures.

• Contributes to the development and planning of new projects and programs.

• Performs all other related duties as assigned/required.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

• A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a public health or research setting, or an MPH in epidemiology, statistics, medical sociology, or a related field.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Drive; the ability to pick-up additional computer skills as needed.

• Demonstrated ability to play an active role in the monitoring and reporting of data.

• Good oral and written communication skills; good organizational and data management skills.

• Detail-oriented.

• Ability to meet deadlines and work on several projects at one time.

• Self-initiating.

• Able to supervise and mentor other staff.

• Available to travel within city area for meetings, outreach events, and intervention activities.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

• Experience collecting and analyzing qualitative data is a plus.
