Position summary:

The Safety Officer / Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for managing and directing the affairs of the Safety Program, Emergency Management and the Safety Committee with the ultimate goal of providing a safe environment for patients, staff, physicians, visitors, and the physical buildings, grounds and equipment. This includes ensuring hospital staff are properly prepared for disasters by overseeing the Incident Command system, allocation of resources, disaster planning, disaster drills / critiques, and by conducting hazard vulnerability analysis.

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent and associate’s degree preferred.

Required length and type of experience:

A minimum of 5 years healthcare safety and emergency management experience.

Required licensure, certification or registry:

Training / Certifications in Emergency Management, Disaster Preparedness, Haz-Mat and DNV Standards, other regulatory agencies standards, FEMA certifications (Hospital Emergency Incident Command, All Hazards Training, Decon training, etc.).
