About the Role:

As a Materials Receiving Inspector, you play a safety-critical role in ensuring that every aircraft part, component, tool, and material received by the organization meets all regulatory, quality, and company standards before entering inventory. Serving as a key control point in the aviation supply chain, you will verify part identity, condition, quantity, and traceability while reviewing all associated airworthiness documentation in accordance with FAA regulations, company manuals, and industry standards. Your work directly supports aircraft airworthiness and prevents unapproved or non-conforming parts from entering service.

Working closely with the Materials, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Quality teams, you will perform detailed inspections of incoming shipments, identify discrepancies or damage, and take appropriate action—including rejection or quarantine—when needed. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong judgment, and the ability to consistently enforce compliance, even in fast-paced or time-sensitive situations such as AOG events. Accurate processing of inventory transactions, including serialized part tracking, condition codes, and system entries, is essential to maintaining traceability, inventory integrity, and overall operational readiness.

Beyond daily receiving and inspection activities, you will support regulatory audits, internal quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives by maintaining organized records and identifying trends or recurring issues with vendors, documentation, or handling practices. Professionalism, effective communication, and a safety-first mindset are essential, as you serve as a critical gatekeeper for compliance, quality, and safety within the aviation operation.

A Day in the Life:

Your day will be fast-paced and detail-driven, centered around ensuring that every part entering our operation is safe, compliant, and ready to support aircraft reliability. Typical responsibilities include:

Prioritizing Incoming Work: Start your shift by reviewing inbound shipments, priority receipts, and any Aircraft on Ground (AOG) needs to determine inspection order. You’ll coordinate closely with Materials, Maintenance, and Purchasing to understand operational priorities.

Receiving Incoming Materials: Receive aircraft parts, components, tools, and materials from carriers or internal transfers, verifying contents against purchase orders, packing documentation, and inspection checklists—especially for life-limited parts.

Performing Detailed Inspections: Conduct thorough receiving inspections to confirm part numbers, descriptions, quantities, serial numbers, batch/lot numbers, and overall material condition.

Validating Airworthiness Documentation: Review and confirm the accuracy of FAA Form 8130-3, Certificates of Conformance, repair station tags, and all supporting documentation to ensure full traceability and regulatory compliance.

Identifying and Addressing Discrepancies: Spot issues such as damage, missing records, incorrect parts, or traceability gaps. When identified, you’ll take the appropriate action—rejecting materials or placing them in quarantine.

Processing Inventory Transactions: Accurately receive all items into the inventory management system, applying correct condition codes, locations, and serialized tracking to maintain inventory integrity.

Routing and Labeling Accepted Materials: Label, tag, and route approved materials to stockrooms, staging areas, or maintenance teams, while ensuring quarantined or rejected items remain properly segregated.

Coordinating With Key Stakeholders: Communicate promptly with Purchasing, Quality, and Maintenance when discrepancies arise or when urgent needs emerge—especially during time-critical or AOG situations.

Maintaining a Safe and Organized Work Area: Keep the receiving and inspection area clean, efficient, and compliant with safety and quality standards at all times.

Supporting Audits and Documentation Needs: Assist with internal and external audits by providing organized inspection records and documentation upon request.

Closing Out the Day: Wrap up the shift by ensuring all receiving actions are documented, outstanding issues are communicated, and the work area is ready for the next team.

Required Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent

2+ years of experience in aviation logistics, materials, stores, quality control, or supply chain operations within a Part 135, Part 121, MRO, or military aviation environment

2+ years of supervisory or lead experience, overseeing stores, logistics, or inventory personnel across hangar and/or warehouse operations receiving aviation materials.

Must have hands-on Inspection experience and extensive experience in Transport Category Aircraft

Detailed knowledge or proficient in the utilization of Federal Aviation Regulations, FAA forms and documents

Proficient in blueprint reading and interpretation, shop mathematics and QC Procedures

Ability to occasionally lift 75+ pounds

Ability to perform intermittent physical activity including bending, reaching, and prolonged periods of standing.

Available to work overtime including early mornings, late nights, holidays, and weekends.

Preferred Experience:

Aviation-related education or training preferred

Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).

OSHA safety training certification

Hazmat and Dangerous Goods Materials training certification

Prior Quality Inspector or Receiving Inspector authorization

Prior aviation experience working with handling, management, and storage of aircraft materials

Skill, Licenses, & Certifications:

A current and valid Driver’s license is required.

Strong working knowledge of inventory control systems (ERP/MRO software), including receiving, issuing, transfers, cycle counts, and reconciliation

Familiarity with FAA regulatory requirements related to material handling, traceability, and airworthiness documentation

Ability to complete recurrent, yearly training regarding inspection, verifying part identity, condition, quantity, traceability, regulatory audits, internal quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Strong analytical skills and practical problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and closely follow directions.

Pay & Perks:

Compensation is $60,000 - $70,000 annually. This was established after performing market research and is aligned with our approach to compensation.
