Position Summary

We’re seeking a Quality Assurance Engineering Manager to lead our QA/Testing center of excellence in Fishers, Indiana. In this role you will work to become an expert on our products and play a key role in helping ensure our software and hardware products are of the highest quality.

Attention to detail, troubleshooting and debugging skills as well as the necessary experience are key to success in this role. Excellent written and verbal communications skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously and strong analytical and problem-solving skills are pre-requisites for success in this role. The ability to work with different stakeholders and translate requirements into test plans and cases is critical.

The ideal candidate will have people‑management experience and be able to work hands‑on while providing leadership in the implementation of complex testing solutions.

SPS offers a highly challenging, fast paced Agile development environment. This position will work closely with the Development team to achieve the highest level of success.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & People Management

  • Line management of assigned Test Analyst resources.
  • Work with a global team and create/review test plans across remote teams.

2. QA Strategy, Planning & Governance

  • Develop the Test Approach and determine resource requirements.
  • Establish the scope and agree with the details of testing with key stakeholders.
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities.
  • Design test plans and test cases based on requirements and specifications for the overall QA team to execute.
  • Develop and maintain test plans for QA cycles and track defects using Microsoft Azure DevOps and MS Test Manager.
  • Define KPIs and create reports for stakeholders to have visibility on product quality, defect analysis, and testing status.
  • Work with operating staff to establish quality procedures and standards to improve performance, stability, and product integrity.
  • Responsible for approving releases into production.

3. Test Execution & Technical Responsibilities

  • Test software and embedded firmware applications against specifications and documentation.
  • Set up test environments.
  • Gain and maintain familiarity with all operating environments.

4. Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Support

  • Work closely with the product and development teams through all aspects of the development lifecycle.
  • Assist and collaborate with development teams and support engineers in identifying, troubleshooting, and replicating issues.
  • Provide guidance in automated testing on projects through advanced use of test tools.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • 5+ years of in-depth experience and demonstrated proficiency with QA methodology, processes and deliverables
  • 5+ years hands on experience in testing software
  • 5+ years of experience with MS Windows 10, Windows 11 operating systems
  • 2+ years of experience with MS Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 operating systems
  • 2+ years of experience within electronics and wiring of systems
  • 2+ years hands-on experience in testing hardware and firmware
  • 2+ years of experience with automated testing
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience with testing hardware and software integration.
  • Experience with hardware test automation and interest in Pi/Arduino technology.
  • Experience troubleshooting network communication issues.
  • Experience using virtualized environments to perform testing.
  • Experience using containerized deployments to perform testing on Linux and Windows.
  • Mobile application testing across iPhone & Android platforms.
  • Exposure to client/server and web application testing.
  • Experience testing RESTful services.
  • Experience testing web, client‑server, cloud, and mobile applications.
  • Experience testing using Playwright.
  • Working with offshore teams.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure DevOps and Test Manager (MTM).
  • Good knowledge of MS SQL Server and T‑SQL.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across varied environments.
  • Ability to work effectively with global and remote teams.
