This role ensures systems work together as intended.
Blackrock Strategy is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to support the integration, assessment, and operational deployment of emerging technologies within complex defense programs.
This role operates at the intersection of engineering, program execution, and mission delivery, ensuring systems are integrated effectively and perform reliably across evolving operational environments.
The ideal candidate is technically grounded, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across cross-functional engineering teams and government stakeholders in a structured, program-driven environment.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Systems are integrated effectively across multi-component defense programs
- Technical risks, gaps, and inefficiencies are identified early and resolved proactively
- System performance is clearly translated into actionable insights for engineering and program leadership
- Integration efforts support program timelines and mission requirements
- Stakeholders operate with a clear understanding of system capabilities and dependencies
- Emerging technologies are evaluated for alignment with program objectives
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support system integration efforts across hardware, software, and operational components
- Analyze system performance against requirements and identify areas for improvement
- Participate in integration, testing, and validation activities
- Collect and interpret system-level data to inform technical and program decisions
- Coordinate with engineering teams, program leadership, and government stakeholders
- Contribute to technical documentation, including reports, test plans, and system assessments
- Assist in evaluating emerging technologies and their applicability to program needs
- Maintain awareness of system architecture, dependencies, and integration constraints
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET preferred)
- Experience in systems engineering, integration, or test & evaluation environments
- Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or government programs
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting complex defense programs or system-of-systems environments
- Familiarity with integration across multiple engineering domains
- Experience working directly with government program offices or stakeholders
- Exposure to emerging technologies or modernization efforts
- Experience supporting verification, validation, or system assessment activities
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- On-site in Huntsville, AL
- Operates within a program-driven, engineering-focused environment
- Requires coordination across engineering, program, and government teams
- Travel up to 25% may be required
- Remote work is limited and not typical for this role
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts in English, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to prepare executive-level briefings, technical summaries, and reports.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to evaluate complex systems, analyze technical tradeoffs, and synthesize input from multiple organizations into cohesive, actionable direction.
Capable of identifying risks and integration challenges while applying sound engineering judgment.
