Job Title: Ophthalmology Tech III
Location: Reed Eye - Pittsford
Department: Ophthalmology
Hours Per Week: 40 Hours, Full-time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
Position Summary:
Requires a high degree of skill and knowledge of ophthalmic practice and all sub-specialties.
Possesses an excellent understanding of ocular pharmacology, knowledge of medications used in office and those prescribed to patients for treatment of ocular diseases. Provides intermediate to advanced diagnostic testing and imaging. Possess excellent critical thinking skills and excellent patient care. Ability to communicate with patients, co-workers and supervisor is critical.
Key Responsibilities:
In addition to those listed for an Ophthalmic Technician II:
- Responsible for equipment maintenance and quality control.
- Responsible for training current and new technicians.
- Helps prepare technicians for certification tests: COA, COT and OCT-C
- Well versed in all Ophthalmic sub-specialties
- Required to assist physicians in all sub- specialties
- Possess a well understanding of the different specialty contact lenses offered across all ophthalmology practices
- Responsible for contact lens ordering
- Perform other duties assigned.
Required Licensure/Certification:
- JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience working as an ophthalmic assistant or ophthalmic technician within an Ophthalmology or Ophthalmic practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
PAY RANGE: $21.00 - $29.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
