Triage Nurse:
The Triage Nurse serves as the first point of clinical contact for patient concerns, managing incoming communication via phone, text, patient portal, and email. They assess symptoms, determine urgency, and guide appropriate next steps while providing patient education within scope. This role supports medication refill requests, prior authorizations, lab follow-up, and other clinical communication workflows, collaborating closely with providers and team members to ensure timely, coordinated care.
This role requires a consistently high level of customer service by communicating with patients in a professional, empathetic, and responsive manner. Maintaining a patient-centered approach by actively listening, addressing concerns thoroughly, and ensuring timely follow-up, which all contribute to a positive and supportive patient experience.
Requirements:· Manage incoming clinical concerns from patients via phone, text, portal, and email
· Assess symptoms, determine urgency, and direct next steps appropriately
· Coordinate with providers, patient liaisons, and other team members to ensure timely follow-through
· Provide patient education within scope while escalating urgent or medically complex issues appropriately
· Serve as the point person for approving and scheduling same-day acute visits and IV infusion add-ons
· Aware of practitioner schedules, keeping them informed of appointment additions or changes that occur during the day
· Support refill requests, lab follow-up, and prior authorizations
· Maintain compliance with OSHA guidelines, including universal precautions, personal protective equipment, and lab guidelines
· Maintain HIPAA confidentiality in all matters
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing (required)
· Prior patient triage experience (preferred)
· Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of practice (required)
