About This Position

JOB TITLE: Master Electrician - Tech III
DEPARTMENT: Plant Operations
REPORTS TO: Facilities Director

JOB SUMMARY
The Master Electrician functions as the senior electrician and oversees all levels of electricians and electrical projects. They must be willing to be the Master of Record for all electrical work at CRH. The master electrician is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment throughout the facility maintaining the equipment, tools, furniture, etc. of the facility. Responsible for maintaining, inspecting, repairing and installing hospital electrical equipment and communication systems. This includes emergency generators, associated switchgear, and support equipment, 480 volt and lower distribution equipment including motor control centers, automatic transfer switches and control devices such as variable frequency drive units. They are responsible for installation of new circuitry for lighting and convenience circuits. They must follow all tasks as set forth by the Facilities Director.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must possess a current Wyoming Master Electrician license or possess a Wyoming Journeyman Electrician’s license with the ability to obtain master’s license through the Wyoming Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety within 60 days of hire. Incumbent must also be eligible to serve as the Master of Record for all electrical work at CRH and obtain this designation within 60 days of hire.

EXPERIENCE
Five or more years of equivalent experience. Specialized knowledge as an Electrician.

  • Effective computer and keyboarding skills.
  • Must have ability to learn and use Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new computer software applications.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Maintain a valid clean driver’s license during period of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Install, maintain, repair, and service electrical systems.
  • Source, fabricate, or procure replacement electrical components as needed.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings; prepare rough sketches when required.
  • Lead, guide, and oversee electricians, including journeyman and low-voltage electricians.
  • Obtain required permits and ensure availability of equipment, tools, and materials for projects.
  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of electrical systems.
  • Provide technical support and assistance during emergency situations.
  • Maintain and update project records; prepare required documentation and reports.
  • Perform work in all areas of the facility as assigned.
  • Work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Be available to work beyond normal business hours as needed.
  • Participate in continuing education and training programs.
  • Remain available for emergency call-ins and situations.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation schedule.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of workplace hazards, including bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, infectious waste, and chemicals.
  • Follow safe work practices, including proper use of tools and power equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing, quality control, and departmental activities.
  • Promote and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain quality improvement (QI) documentation and required departmental records.
  • Utilize computers, email systems, and applicable software, including access control systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with facility-wide and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in the CRH Compliance Program; ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and oversee a low-voltage apprenticeship program for Plant Operations staff, including training and documentation of completed hours.
  • Meet all attendance and reliability standards.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in performing job duties.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain organization in job duties to minimize errors, omissions, and inconsistencies.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels to support uninterrupted facility operations.
  • Support and maintain an effective preventive maintenance program.
  • Maintain records in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Facility Director.
  • Interact tactfully and professionally with staff, patients, visitors, and the public.
  • Work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships with department personnel.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues, including waste, inefficiencies, or misuse of equipment.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with established safety standards.
  • Stay current with new technologies, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate workflow with team members and leadership to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Demonstrate and support the Mission, Vision, Goals, and Philosophy of CRH through actions and communication.
  • Maintain professional working relationships and exercise appropriate judgment regarding scope of authority.
  • Apply effective problem-solving skills in daily work activities.
  • Adapt to changing workloads, emergencies, and scheduling needs.
  • Attend all required department meetings.
  • Serve on committees as assigned by the Facility Director.
  • Participate in required hospital education programs and in-services.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
