About This Position

Description:

The Senior Buyer independently manages complex commodities, mission-critical electronics, specialty military-grade components, and high-mix procurement portfolios. Ensures materials are available to meet production schedules while managing cost, quality, and supplier performance.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end procurement for assigned commodities (electronic components, PCBs, harnesses, machined parts, etc.).
  • Analyze MRP and convert requirements into purchase orders.
  • Manage supplier relationships and communication, including escalations.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and volume agreements.
  • Proactively address supply risks and shortages, recommending mitigation plans.
  • Review BOMs for accuracy, manufacturability, and sourcing challenges.
  • Track and manage long-lead and obsolete components.
  • Update ERP with lead times, order confirmations, pricing, and delivery status.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years procurement experience in high-mix manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of PCBA materials, electronics distribution, and defense supplier networks.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
  • Solid negotiation and risk-management capabilities.
  • Advanced ERP/MRP competency.

Technical Skills

  • ERP/MRP proficiency (transactional and planning).
  • Understanding of BOM structures and engineering drawings.
  • Electronics and PCBA component knowledge (ICs, passives, connectors, PCBs).
  • Familiarity with DFARS, ITAR, and counterfeit avoidance standards.
  • Supplier negotiation and contract fundamentals.
