About This Position
Department: Production / Fabrication
Reports To: Welding Supervisor or Production Manager
Position Summary
The Aluminum Welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling aluminum components and products according to engineering drawings, work orders, and quality standards. This role supports production goals by performing high-quality welds, maintaining safety compliance, and ensuring efficient workflow in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform MIG and/or TIG welding on aluminum components according to specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and production drawings.
Set up welding equipment, fixtures, and materials for production runs.
Inspect welds to ensure quality and structural integrity.
Operate fabrication equipment such as grinders, saws, and measuring tools.
Maintain production schedules while meeting quality standards.
Conduct minor maintenance and troubleshooting on welding equipment.
Follow plant safety policies and maintain a clean work area.
Work with supervisors and quality teams to resolve production issues.
Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
1–3 years of aluminum welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
Proficiency in MIG and/or TIG aluminum welding.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and weld symbols.
Basic math and measurement skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
Preferred Qualifications
Welding certification or technical training.
Experience in high-volume manufacturing.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma environments.
Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail and quality control.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Problem-solving ability.
Reliable attendance and teamwork mindset.
Ability to meet production deadlines.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequent bending, reaching, and handling materials.
Ability to work in hot, noisy, or industrial environments.
Work Environment
Manufacturing shop floor environment.
Exposure to welding fumes, heat, and moving equipment.
Required use of PPE including welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing.
