Controller

We’re looking for a Controller to lead our accounting and finance operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and forward-looking guidance as Collabware continues to grow. You’ll own everything from budgeting and reporting to cash flow management and internal controls—while shaping financial strategy to support sustainable growth.

Grow Together: Partner with leaders across departments, providing financial coaching and insights that help teams make sound business decisions.
Make It Happen: Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of accounting operations, compliance, and reporting, while driving efficiencies in everyday processes.

The Actions
Set up and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and proceduresImplement operational best practices and drive process improvementsDevelop financial and tax strategies that align with company goalsMonitor cash balances, cash flow forecasts, and working capital optimizationRecommend and execute proactive changes for cost savings and process efficiencyManage and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial statementsLead budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting processesDevelop performance measures and benchmarks that support company strategyEnsure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements and tax filingsOversee audits and maintain accurate, compliant recordkeepingIdentify and report risk issues to senior leadershipManage daily accounting operations: A/R, A/P, payroll, invoicing, payments, and bank reconciliationsEnsure accuracy of journals and ledgers in QuickBooks (or equivalent system)Prepare cheques, payments, deposits, and payroll runs as requiredMaintain appropriate insurance coverage and risk management practicesKey Skills
Strong technical knowledge of accounting, tax, and financial reportingExceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to translate financial insights into clear, actionable recommendationsProactive mindset with a focus on process improvements and cost optimizationSkilled communicator with the ability to partner effectively across teamsProven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide othersHands-on experience with financial systems (QuickBooks or equivalent)Experience and Qualifications
CPA designation requiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or related fieldMinimum of 7 years’ experience in a financial accounting or Controller roleDemonstrated ability to lead finance functions in a growing organizationStrategic, analytical, and tactical abilities—able to balance detail with big pictureSaaS or technology industry experience is an assetRole Expectations

We take a great deal of pride in the culture we are trying to foster, and we want to make sure you’ll fit right in. Bring all the questions you can think of about the team!The final stage – a one-on-one meeting with our CEO. Here, you’ll chat about the role and the company vision. If you are in the Vancouver area, this meeting will typically be done over lunch.
