The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Performs standard and complex polysomnographic recordings and monitors physiological phenomena throughout such procedures. Administers oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure and employs ventilatory assist devices in accordance with established protocols. Special procedures such as multiple sleep latency testing are also performed. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Certified/Registered/Licensed Respiratory Therapist or Registered Polysomnographic Technician.
  • AHA BLS Certification.
  • One to three years previous patient care or experience in health related environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Applies electrodes and other measure devices and operates equipment in an appropriate manner to obtain high quality polysomnogram.
  • Assures maximum comfort for the patient and provides education necessary to ensure patient’s acceptance of the procedure. Provides patient education on therapy and arrange for homecare as required.
  • Completes and submits billing and financial information on a daily basis.
  • Ensures cleanliness, appearance and safety of physical plant and reports issues with the appropriate department as well as supervisor.
  • Ensures proper functioning of equipment. Provides routine cleaning of equipment after each use. Maintains appropriate inventory of patient supplies.
  • Maintains department medical records.
  • Performs other duties of the department as assigned.
  • Proficiently uses computer system.
  • Scores polysomnogram/MSLT accurately; provides appropriate documentation for physician interpretation. Maintains records, reports, log books as required.
