Job Description
Job Objective/Summary: The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling procedures in a timely and efficient manner. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and clinical staff, ensuring accurate scheduling, proper documentation, and excellent customer service while supporting overall departmental operations.
- Schedule radiology and imaging appointments (e.g., X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound) accurately and efficiently
- Obtain PA’s for Inpatient, observation and swing beds
- Obtain PA’s for Clinic and ER
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and physician orders prior to scheduling
- Ensure appropriate preparation instructions are communicated clearly to patients
- Coordinate with radiology technologists and clinical staff to optimize scheduling and workflow
- Obtain and enter necessary authorizations and referrals in compliance with payer requirements
- Answer incoming calls and respond to scheduling inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Reschedule or cancel appointments as needed while maintaining accurate records
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Monitor scheduling work queues and follow up on incomplete or pending orders
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, providers, and staff
Job Education, Licenses/Certifications, Knowledge & Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have the ability to read, write, take verbal instruction and perform basic arithmetic.
