About the Role
The Loan Operations Specialist supports the lending function by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing and servicing of loans. This role works closely with loan officers, branch staff, and internal departments to manage loan documentation, booking, servicing, and post‑closing activities while maintaining adherence to bank policies and regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Champion Enterprise Values: Lead with and model SSB&T’s core values, embedding them into data strategy, governance, and team culture.
- Prepare, review, and process loan documentation for new and existing loans
- Ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with bank policies and regulations
- Book loans into the core system and verify accuracy of loan terms and data
- Process loan payments, advances, payoffs, and modifications
- Maintain and update loan records, collateral files, and documentation
- Perform loan servicing functions, including interest rate changes, renewals, and extensions
- Monitor and track insurance, collateral, and exception items
- Assist with loan audits, reviews, and regulatory examinations
- Resolve loan documentation or servicing issues in coordination with loan officers and customers
- Prepare reports related to loan activity, exceptions, and portfolio maintenance
- Support compliance with applicable regulations (including documentation, disclosures, and record retention)
- Provide excellent internal and external customer service
- The scope of this role may be reviewed and adjusted periodically to align with organizational goals at the employer’s discretion.

- Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
- Focus-intensive position requiring extended periods of sitting and digital navigation.
- Occasional walking, standing, and use of office equipment.
- Must possess close visual acuity and clear speech for verbal communication.

- Physical reporting Branch or Operations office location
Candidate Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2–4 years of banking or loan operations experience
- Working knowledge of loan documentation, servicing, and core banking systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Solid organizational and time‑management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Understanding of basic lending terminology and processes
- Ability to adapt to growing business needs and structural changes.
Candidate Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
- Experience supporting commercial and/or consumer loan portfolios
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and audit support processes
- Experience with loan imaging and document management systems
- Previous experience working closely with lenders or credit administration teams
- Knowledge of loan compliance standards and risk controls
