Role Summary
The Quality Assurance Manager ensures compliance with all Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory requirements. They work collectively to develop, train, and monitor activities supporting the specific requirements with individuals who are responsible for completion of the processes and documentation. They mentor other team members in Food Safety and Quality initiatives. They must have a working knowledge of regulatory compliance, GFSI auditing standards and HACCP/HARPC requirements.
The QA Manager partners cross-functionally with Production, R&D, and Operations to drive a culture of food safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver high-quality products. This role requires a highly visible, hands-on presence on the production floor, with flexibility to support all shifts and critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & Quality Systems
Assures quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing food safety and quality standards and testing materials and products.Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements.Responsible for implementing and maintaining Food Safety and Quality procedures with the production team members partnering with Production Management.Responsible for training the team members on the critical points of the food safety system.Standards, Testing & Product Control
Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers.Develops raw material standards by studying manufacturing and engineering requirements, conferring and negotiating with suppliers, and devising testing methods and procedures.Implements in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures.Establishes standards for the disposition of finished products by devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.Institutes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.Documentation & Reporting
Creates product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.Team Leadership & Development
Completes quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.Develop quality assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.Manages quality assurance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.Ensures quality by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with other members of management to develop new products and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods.Responsible for effective interaction with all members of the Manager/Supervisor team.Safety, Compliance & Company Standards
Responsible for enforcing company rules and regulations per the Handbook guidelines.Responsible for maintaining all safety related initiatives including, but not limited to, safety programs and incentives.Performance & Financial Management
Maintain Key Performance Indicators for the operations to help meet production specifications and product standards, as well as reduce overall cost, maximize productivity and profitability.Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.Systems & Technical Capability
Must be capable of learning and using with a high skill level the Accounting and Manufacturing systems used by NF&B, in addition to Label View Label program and input and operation of container coders and case printers.External Communication

Experience
10+ years of experience within a Manufacturing Facility or Quality Assurance role. Strong food production background required, preferably with a soup, sauce, dressing facility. Experience with GFSI Auditing Standards and Regulatory Guidelines.What Sets You Apart?
