As an Automation Mechanical Technician III, you’ll play a key role in building high‑performance automated equipment from the ground up.
Automation Mechanical Technician III Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform all responsibilities typically assigned to entry-level and mid-level Mechanical Technicians
- Assemble standard and custom mechanical components for automated systems
- Align and verify tooling to ensure proper fit, form, and function
- Troubleshoot and debug stations, modules, and systems with Manufacturing Project Leads (MPLs) and Supervisors
- Complete assigned builds accurately, efficiently, and to quality standards
- Support electrical routing and control assembly as needed
- Collaborate with MPLs/Supervisors to redline or modify mechanical components
- Perform field service including installation and troubleshooting
- Participate in customer installations, machine acceptance, and shift work when needed
- Support measurement studies such as gage R&R and CpK
- Serve as Module Project Leader for smaller‑scope systems
- Contribute to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)/Site Acceptance Training (SAT) preparation and execution
- Maintain organized, safe work areas aligned with 5S principles
- Assist in training Mechanical Technician 1 and 2 team members
Automation Mechanical Technician Qualifications:
- Associate degree in mechanical/electrical field or 3–5 years of relevant experience
- Cross‑training in electrical assembly (preferred)
- Proficiency with entry and intermediate level Mechanical Tech tasks
- Familiarity with machining tools such as mills, lathes, and grinders
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and documentation
- Experience with BOM changes, purchasing, and materials handling
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift 25–50 lbs unassisted
- Willingness to work in physically demanding environments with PPE
- Ability to travel for field service and customer installations
- Flexibility to perform additional related duties as needed
