This is a full-time position based in Augusta Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm. On-call rotation is required, and it comes with generous compensation for on-call duties.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The warehouse/driver technician is responsible for the selection, delivery, set-up, demonstration, and continued maintenance of home medical, respiratory therapy, and home infusion equipment and related supplies, including educating the patient/customer in the safe and proper use of all delivered equipment and supplies. The warehouse/driver technician is also responsible for maintaining, cleaning/disinfecting, storing, and ensuring proper inventory levels of home medical, respiratory therapy, and home infusion equipment at both the off-site and on-site warehouse.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

WAREHOUSE

  • Assist to Manage inventory; participates in inventory counts, receiving and organization of product.
  • Maintains the warehouse to ensure cleanliness, organization, and adequate supply of products and equipment.
  • Ensures appropriate cleaning, tagging, bagging, and preventative maintenance of all equipment.
  • Performs appropriate cleaning, preventive maintenance, and repair (as appropriate based on skills and training) of all home medical, respiratory therapy and home infusion equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines and in a timely manner, including completion of all appropriate documentation.
  • Maintains all equipment in the warehouse in a timely manner, including cleaning, maintenance logs, and filing all manufacturer correspondence.
  • Prepare work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment, when necessary.
  • Check-in new equipment; assembles if necessary.
  • Notifies appropriate departments with restocking needs.
  • Ensures appropriate levels of inventory for home medical, respiratory therapy and home infusion equipment and supplies, and notifies appropriate departments of restocking needs.
  • Transfers clean/dirty equipment to and from office and warehouse.
  • Directs salvage of damaged or used materials and equipment.
  • DRIVER TECHNICIAN

  • Picks home medical and respiratory therapy equipment and supply orders and follows up as appropriate.
  • Delivers and sets up home medical, respiratory therapy and home infusion equipment.
  • Ensure that all equipment and supplies for delivery are clean and in proper working order.
  • Provides patients/customers with verbal and written instructions on the safe and proper use of all delivered equipment, including information on safety and infection control.
  • As appropriate, identifies and reviews with patients/customers potentially hazardous situations in the home environment related to the use of delivered equipment, and offers appropriate remedies.
  • Picks up discontinued equipment and follows established procedures for cleaning and maintenance.
  • Documents and submits all necessary paperwork in a timely manner, including delivery of tickets for all items, payments collected, training provided, environmental assessment and documentation of any unsafe situation with appropriate action to be taken.
  • Participates in scheduled staff training programs to maintain competency level.
  • Maintains vehicle properly and reports any potential problems.
  • Ensures overall cleanliness, organization and safety of both the off-site and on-site warehouse.
  • Fills oxygen orders for patients to pick up.
  • Troubleshoots problems with equipment as appropriate.
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains patient confidentiality and rights.
  • Maintains professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in on-call rotation and extended patient-related travel as necessary.
  • Clearly understands the purpose of the Improving Organizational performance program.
  • Take responsibility for self-protection while working in hazardous situations, and practices universal precautions.
  • Adheres to all state and federal regulations and guidelines (OSHA, DOT, DMV, etc.), as well as KPHC operating policies and procedures and ACHC standards.
  • EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Valid State of Maine license, along with a good driving record.
  • Prior driver/delivery experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand service and repair manuals.
  • PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The employee must regularly lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds. Lifting beyond that weight limit may require using additional equipment or people. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Extensive in-state travel in company-owned vehicles is required.

    Requirements:

  • Valid State of Maine driver’s license with a clean driving record.
