About This Position
Description:
Position Summary:
We are a multi restaurant anchored specialty food store dedicated to providing quality local products and exceptional service to our customers. We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team and manage the accounting operations of both the grocery operations and the restaurant operations.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records for the food retail and restaurants.
- Coordinate accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payment processing with the finance team.
- Reconcile bank statements with transactions through our 2 point of sale platforms and our payment of vendors.
- Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in monitoring of budgets, tracking of expenses, and reporting on variances.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting.
- Coordinate with external accountants for year-end audits and tax preparation.
- Manage inventory accounting and assist in performing regular stock audits.
- Handle other administrative and financial tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Accountant, preferably in the food retail or restaurant industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Knowledge of tax regulations.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in inventory management and cost accounting.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and their integration with accounting software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Working Conditions:
- A typical work week for this position is 40-50 hours. Hours may vary in season.
- The majority of the day is spent on a computer.
- Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operates phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment.
