Front of House (FOH) Audio Engineer – Independent Contractor

About the OpportunityWheeler Avenue Baptist Church is seeking an experienced independent contractor to provide FOH audio engineering services for worship services, rehearsals, and special events. This is a contract opportunity, not an employment position.

Scope of ServicesProvide FOH audio engineering services for scheduled church events, as mutually agreed.Collaborate with other audio professionals and volunteers.Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues as needed.May accept additional assignments as mutually agreed with the Director of Production & Media.Technical Skills & RequirementsProficiency with Yamaha Mixing Consoles (RIVAGE Series: PM3, PM5, DSP RX-EX).Experience with Dante and TWINLANE audio protocols.Skilled in wireless mic systems (Shure Axient, Wireless Workbench).Familiarity with loudspeaker management (L’Acoustics LA Network Manager, Soundvision).Advanced knowledge of EQ, gain staging, compressors/gates, and dynamic plugins.Strong troubleshooting skills for audio, RF, and network-enabled devices.Ability to teach and mentor audio volunteers.Must have own equipment and tools as needed for the role.Responsible for managing own schedule and work methods.Must be able to provide services to other clients and organizations.QualificationsHigh School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in audio engineering or related field preferred.5–7 years of hands-on audio engineering experience.Strong teamwork and communication skills.A heart for worship and service.Physical & Work EnvironmentAbility to lift up to 50 lbs frequently; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.Work includes irregular hours, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call status.Must adhere to appearance guidelines and work in various church locations.Compensation & TermsThis is a contract opportunity. Compensation will be based on agreed-upon deliverables and invoiced in accordance with the contract terms.No employee benefits, payroll, or employment entitlements are provided.Contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes and insurance.
