About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
The Mental Health Technician will help guide individuals with substance abuse and related mental health issues through rehabilitation. Mental Health Technicians will help administer medications and assess an individual’s behavior. The Mental Health Technician must be able to communicate any changes in an individual's mental or physical health. The Mental Health Technician may also be asked to contribute to the individual’s treatment planning. The Mental Health Technician must have experience in crisis intervention methods.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with individuals with mental illness.
Check vital signs.
Administer medications.
Assess mood changes.
Document or communicate any behavioral changes or issues.
Complete progress notes, and medication logs before the end of every shift.
Report every incident in a timely manner required, following the required process of reporting an incident.
Complete monthly assessments and trainings in a timely manner.
Adhere to Company policies and procedures, HIPAA regulations, DBHDS regulations, and Federal and state laws and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED certificate.
Current and valid Medication Aide Certificate.
Mental Health Technician certification.
Proof of Crisis intervention.
CPR/First Aid certification.
Proof of a negative TB Test result.
Valid driver's license, auto insurance and reliable transportation.
Pass the background check, drug test and physical test.
Pass the assessments.
Follow company policies and procedures, federal and state laws including DBHDS laws and regulations.
Comfortable driving individuals in the company’s car, or your car if needed/required.
Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Physical ability to assist individuals needs.
Willing to work on-call shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
Participate in mandatory meetings and events.
Be punctual, professional, cheerful, kind, compassionate, caring and merciful.
No use of inappropriate languages.
No use of cellphones (other than for company’s work).
Professional clothes, shoes, and proper hygiene throughout each shift.
Proper hand washing each time after using the restroom.
Perform other duties as assigned.
