About This Position
Job Summary:
The Communications Manager will develop, manage, and implement communications plans for Cookeville Regional Medical Center (and its associated assets such as employed physician offices, Urgent Care, clinics, etc.) across the platforms of written and digital publications, web, and social media to enhance the medical center’s status with the media, community, internal audiences, and other key stakeholders.
The Manager will oversee a broad range of communications activities with a strong emphasis on online opportunities, social media, external and internal communications, media relations, website, collaterals, and blogs. The Manager may also assist with some marketing activities, including copywriting for advertising projects.
Position assures compliance and upholding of the Medical Center’s policy of non-discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, physician or mental handicap, pregnancy or veteran status. Position may interact with all ages of patients, guests, staff, and others.
Additional Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field required
Additional Experience Requirements:
• 5+ years of communications experience preferred
• Management experience preferred
• Experience in graphic design a plus
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and web content management systems experience
• Experience in healthcare field a plus
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Demonstrated experience with communications, news media or media relations, crisis communications skills and a strong knowledge of communications practices, methods, and strategies
• An accomplished storyteller with proven communications skills and strong abilities in oral, written, and digital communications
• Ability to write press releases/media statements/talking points and advertising/social media/website copy along with the ability to edit materials according to audience; occasional speechwriting will be required
• Practical knowledge of AP style
• Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
• Team-oriented outlook
• Good organizational, planning and coordination skills
• Ability to problem solve and ability to cope well with change
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure
