Description:

Are you a detail-oriented quality professional with a strong background in welding inspection and steel fabrication? We are seeking a CWI / Quality Manager to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring the consistent production of high-quality products across our manufacturing operations.

The CWI / Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing quality control processes, maintaining compliance with industry standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures that all materials, personnel, and processes meet strict quality requirements while promoting safety, efficiency, and accountability throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure quality standards for personnel, materials, and processes throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs).
  • Ensure welder qualifications meet AWS, AISC, and IAS standards and maintain proper certification continuity.
  • Lead training and testing programs for new and existing employees, including visual inspection training.
  • Manage calibration and maintenance of fabrication equipment and tools.
  • Maintain IAS and AISC certifications through audits, documentation, and procedural updates.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and IAS safety and quality standards within the manufacturing facility.
  • Verify inspection and proper identification of incoming raw materials in accordance with quality plans and specifications.
  • Maintain traceability from incoming materials through final assembly, including QA records and welder identification.
  • Ensure fabrication tolerances meet applicable standards for weldments and cold-formed products.
  • Assist with onsite job resolution to identify and resolve fabrication or construction issues.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Coordinate and participate in performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, leadership, and external vendors to support quality initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily indoor work environment (approximately 95%) with occasional outdoor exposure.
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
  • Occasional stooping, lifting, and carrying (25–40 lbs.).
  • Occasional driving as needed.

Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of AWS, AISC, IAS, and OSHA standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with PCs and related business systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including team management and conflict resolution.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of related experience in metal buildings or a steel manufacturing environment.
  • Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
