Role Overview
As a Junior Security Analyst, you will work closely with PDRI’s Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to perform IT security and compliance tasks that strengthen our software systems and overall security posture. This role provides hands-on experience with leading security frameworks, cloud platforms, and compliance standards, offering a strong foundation for growth in cybersecurity and IT security careers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and implement security plans, policies, and procedures.
- Track POA&Ms and other security findings to closure.
- Prepare and update security authorization and compliance packages for FedRAMP, FISMA, SOC 2, ISO 27001/27701, and GDPR.
- Conduct vulnerability scans using automated tools.
- Support third-party security and compliance assessments.
- Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in line with PDRI security policies.
- Conduct and track Information Security training programs.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Strong operational knowledge of Windows servers and workstation computing solutions; familiarity with Linux is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively; quick learner with strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of information security principles, network protocols, and incident response procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with security and compliance standards such as FedRAMP, FISMA, SOC 2, ISO 27001/27701, GDPR.
- Operational knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
- Cybersecurity certifications, such as CompTIA Security+.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools (e.g., Splunk, Burp Suite, Nessus).
- Knowledge of relevant security standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO) and familiarity with NIST SP 800-37, 800-53, 800-171.
