About This Position

Job Title: Assistant Branch Manager

Department: Retail Branch

Reports To: AVP, Branch Manager

FLSA Status: Full Time Non- Exempt

Job Overview:

The role of an Assistant Branch Manager is to assist the Branch Manager in managing and retaining current relationships and seeking new account opportunities. You will supervise all daily Branch operations and will be responsible for administration of all Branch procedures in accordance with the guidelines and objectives set by the Bank. The ABM will implement sales practices for the purpose of increasing internal sales and excellent service quality and encourage cross-selling and referrals by entire staff. You will lead by example in professionalism in the workplace. An Assistant Branch manager assumes full control and responsibility for entire Branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Engagement and Process Improvement:

  • Work with the Branch Manager to create, implement, and present staff development activities to enhance the skills of Branch personnel.
  • Serve as a supplemental trainer for new employees when needed.
  • Keep staff and Branch Manager current with any changes.
  • Resolve customer service issues in a professional and prompt manner.
  • Participate in development of community development involvement to increase the bank’s visibility and to promote new business opportunities. Participate in branch functions and CRA activities to promote the organization’s image and growth ensuring that the Bank maintains a strong local presence.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and ability to work branch hours, including some weekends and evenings. Flexibility to assist in other branches
  • Sales and Financial Performance

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and motivate team to deepen existing customer relationships and acquire new customers. Identify opportunities to promote and cross-sell products and services that serve the customer’s needs and support the growth and profitability of the branch and the bank. Ensure team members are knowledgeable about Bank products to cross-sell services effectively.
  • Promote third party vendor products to gain fee income.
  • Promote the expansion of existing business relationships and develop new business.
  • Able to develop outside calling skills.
  • Possess interpersonal skills necessary to conduct the development of new and potential customers. Utilize analytical skills to assess and evaluate customer needs.
  • Assist in achieving goals as described in branch’s Business Growth Plan.
  • Retail Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the branch and supervise staff. Ensure the branch runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Assist customers with problems or unusual transactions.
  • Open new accounts. Perform new account reviews for the branch.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of the industry and the Bank’s policies and procedures and adhere to these. Be knowledgeable about the bank’s products and services.
  • Assist with teller transactions when needed. Performs dual control tasks. Monitors and reviews the security procedures and controls access to the vault.
  • Adhere to branch opening and closing procedures. Understand procedures to be followed in case of robbery or other emergency. Adhere to all banking regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor daily Branch activity through different reports available on the Bank's systems.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.
  • Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; College degree preferred.
  • Five years prior banking experience, including head teller experience.
  • Prior sales experience preferred.
  • Experience with various banking equipment such as scanners, teller, and CSR terminals, ATM and coin machine.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Project a professional corporate image both in person and over the telephone.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • High degree of accuracy
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Knowledge of teller and core processing programs
  • Knowledge or various Federal Regulations, including but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, Community Reinvestment Act, Americans Disability Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Regulation E.
