Job Summary:
Farnham Family Services is seeking an IT Specialist to provide day-to-day technical support for staff across multiple locations. This position is ideal for someone looking to grow their IT career while supporting a healthcare-focused nonprofit organization.
This role is physically based in Oswego, NY and requires regular travel to Auburn, Fulton, and Mexico as needed. The IT Specialist will support clinical and administrative staff with hardware, software, printers, Microsoft 365, email, account access, mobile devices, basic networking, and agency systems including the electronic health record (EHR). Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
- Provide day-to-day technical support to users across multiple agency locations
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, printers, connectivity, and mobile device issues
- Set up, maintain, and replace computers, laptops, peripherals, and user accounts
- Support Microsoft 365, email, Teams, and basic system access
- Help users who are locked out of Windows domain accounts and perform password resets
- Assist with multifactor authentication, workstation access, and general account troubleshooting
- Support agency applications and systems, including basic EHR access support, user troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors or internal staff as needed
- Help identify, document, and escalate recurring EHR or workflow-related issues affecting staff use or efficiency
- Assist with troubleshooting and documenting IT issues, service requests, and recurring technical problems
- Help maintain accurate inventory records for IT equipment and related assets
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers on assigned technical issues and projects
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding technology tasks
- Help maintain secure, HIPAA-compliant technology practices in a regulated healthcare setting
- Support basic networking tasks such as troubleshooting wired and wireless connectivity, switches, access points, cabling, and site-level network issues
- Provide basic training and guidance to staff on technology tools and systems as needed
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements:Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Basic knowledge of Windows systems, office software, and end-user device support
- Strong customer service, communication, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with staff and vendors
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for regular travel between Farnham locations as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft 365 or help desk environments
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting EHR systems or other healthcare applications
- Networking experience strongly preferred
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of wired and wireless networking, switches, access points, and connectivity troubleshooting
- Basic cybersecurity knowledge
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Cisco, Ubiquiti, or similar certification
- Networking certifications or formal networking coursework are a strong plus
