This senior leadership role is responsible for driving new business and strategic growth within the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) sector, focusing on high-value opportunities and key accounts. The Director will act as the central point for developing and executing comprehensive capture strategies, shaping requirements, and influencing acquisition outcomes. You will engage directly with executive stakeholders, program offices, and technical teams to identify opportunities, architect competitive solutions, and secure long-term relationships. This role combines strategic vision with tactical execution, requiring expertise in complex, matrixed organizations, advanced electronics, and solution-selling for mission-critical programs. Extensive travel across North America and the UK is expected, offering the chance to impact growth across global A&D markets. Success in this role is measured by new business wins, client satisfaction, and effective account development strategies.
- Serve as the central coordination point for all strategic A&D account opportunities, ensuring alignment with sector growth objectives.
- Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with client programs across multiple business units.
- Engage proactively with program leadership and technical staff to understand long-term mission requirements and emerging capability gaps.
- Develop and execute comprehensive capture strategies, positioning the company as a trusted technology partner.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities, documenting intelligence on stakeholders, requirements, competition, and win strategies.
- Lead capture efforts from qualification to award, maximizing content and competitive advantage across multiple systems and platforms.
- Collaborate with Program Management, Engineering, Operations, and Pricing teams to architect solutions that meet technical requirements while delivering commercial value.
- Apply structured capture methodologies and perform competitive intelligence to optimize resource allocation and success rates.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of business development or strategic account experience in the Aerospace & Defense sector, with proven new business wins exceeding $50M.
- Deep understanding of A&D customer environments, including DOD/Pentagon acquisition processes and mission priorities.
- Strong relationships within Prime contractor program offices and acquisition organizations.
- Expertise in PCB/microelectronics, RF/MW products, mission systems, and design-to-specification solution selling.
- Demonstrated ability to influence customer requirements and acquisition strategies through technical credibility and strategic engagement.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging executive leadership and government stakeholders.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively and operate within complex, matrixed organizations.
- Security clearance preferred; willingness to travel up to 50% of the time across North America and the UK.
