SCHEDULE:

  • Monday-Thursday, 6:30am-3:30pm & Sunday 7am-3pm
  • Schedule may be subject to change based on coverage needs, including special events, weekends and holidays if needed

ABOUT CPLC DE COLORES SHELTER
CPLC De Colores provides a safe, secure place for families to heal from the traumatizing effects of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Shelter and community-based services meet survivors where they are to help them discover their strengths and regain their freedom.

The De Colores Shelter provides emergency housing, case management, legal and housing support, support groups, transportation, youth services, housing and employment support, and referrals to other resources. We offer nurturing spaces for survivors and their families to heal, including a meditation room, a garden, and a special area for youth activities.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
Residents and their families will come to you for supportive, welcoming dining experiences, as they heal from the trauma of domestic violence. You'll run the day-to-day and maintenance of our community kitchen, providing nutritious meals to the residents of the De Colores Domestic Violence and Family Homeless Shelters.

  • Planning and organizing the menu
  • Coordinating food service tasks, including purchasing/ordering needed food items.
  • Overseeing activities in the kitchen and dining areas, including prep, cookery, and excellent service during meal times.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization according to federal, state, local sanitation and food safety requirements and best practices.
  • Picking up food donations from local food banks.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT KITCHEN SUPPORT PARTNER?

  • Your cooking skills preparing food for groups of people (preferably 80+) using industrial kitchen equipment.
  • You love hospitality and always create a warm, welcoming dining experience.
  • You are resourceful and adaptable, putting together meals that are nourishing - and tasty!! - from available ingredients.
  • You are passionate and nonjudgmental, committed to working with survivors of domestic violence and their families.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Moving up to 50 pounds (food donations, boxes, carts, kitchen equipment, etc)
  • Standing and moving for extended periods of time in a kitchen setting

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish required
  • Experience working in a commercial or community-style kitchen
  • Able to work with clients who experience domestic violence and homelessness
  • Must have current
    • food handler card, or ability to get one
    • driver’s license
    • Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays if needed
