PARTS PAINTER OVERVIEW:

The Parts Painter is responsible for safely preparing and painting parts of the aircraft. The ideal candidate will be familiar with all aspects of paint preparation, application, paint defect repair/corrections, cleaning and polishing.

JOB SUMMARY
The Parts Painter is responsible for safely preparing, painting, and detailing of the aircraft.

DUTIES

  • Safely perform aircraft preparation, painting, and detailing of aircraft under minimal supervision. Coordinate with supervision and Inspection to ensure compliance with internal and FAA paperwork, sign-offs and quality specifications.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures while utilizing tools and equipment, including dual action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms, and paint sprayers.
  • Under supervision, clean, sand, mask, and buff aircraft or aircraft components in preparation for painting.
  • Demonstrate consistent ability to perform tasks with limited errors or rework.
  • Properly use PPE as required, to include respirator, and PPE for hazardous materials.
  • Follow standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers and corrosion-preventive chemicals and use protective equipment as required.
  • Comply with safety regulations and remain vigilant for unsafe conditions, addressing any hazards before they endanger people or property.
  • Assist with the movement of aircraft within hangars and contribute ideas for continuous improvement while participating in related activities.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience, Skills, Education

  • Prefer 2 years in aircraft industry or autobody industry.
  • Familiarity and skill in all aspects of paint preparation, application, artwork layout, paint defect repair/corrections, cleaning and polishing required.
  • Knowledge of paint processes and products , how to use and handle hazardous material, and how to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Able to use tools and equipment associated with the aircraft painting process.
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift.
  • Working knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics) is necessary.
  • Be able to use Personal Protective Equipment (e.g., respirators, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.)
  • Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, sitting, working overhead, extensive walking, working in tight/confined spaces and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Handling hazardous material in performance of assigned duties
