The Summit Group is a leading program planning and controls firm specializing in schedule and cost oversight for complex capital programs. We support federal agencies and private clients nationwide, helping them plan, monitor, and deliver mission-critical projects with precision and efficiency.
We are seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support a major federal program and provide advanced schedule management and project controls expertise. In this fully remote role, you will work closely with program managers and stakeholders to develop and maintain Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), implement schedule controls, analyze risk, and prepare reports that support key decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and analyze project schedules in Oracle Primavera P6 to support planning, design, construction, commissioning, and activation phases.
- Update and maintain role-loaded schedules by collecting and integrating data from multiple stakeholders.
- Build and refine Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and activity coding to align with program standards and industry best practices.
- Conduct risk analysis and propose mitigation strategies for potential schedule delays.
- Lead and participate in recurring program meetings to review active schedules, refine schedule logic, and advise on “what-if” recovery scenarios.
- Create and maintain standardized schedule templates, fragments, and baselines across a large program portfolio.
- Prepare custom dashboards, analytics, and monthly reports using Primavera P6, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI to support executive-level decision-making.
- Assist in resource forecasting and allocation to ensure accurate representation of staffing needs and workload projections.
- Provide training and mentoring on scheduling best practices and IMS tools as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in construction scheduling and program controls using Oracle Primavera P6.
- Proven expertise in developing, maintaining, and analyzing resource-loaded schedules for large capital or healthcare construction programs.
- Strong understanding of critical path method (CPM) scheduling and schedule risk management.
- Ability to synthesize complex data sets into clear, actionable reporting for stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, project management, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Preferred Certifications & Experience
- AACE Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification (preferred but not required).
- PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred but not required).
- Prior experience with federal programs or healthcare construction.
