Overview

Key Responsibilities & Performance Standards

Counseling, Resource Navigation, and Referral Service

  • Conducts screening, triage, and bridge services to other internal or external resources, long-term assistance and/or specialty health care services as needed.
  • Provides confidential on-site, one-on-one, or group counseling and/or referral services for employees experiencing work-related psychological challenges or crises.
  • Responds to direct requests from employees, managers, departments to address or consult on mental health needs of employees impacted by a work-related event.
  • Maintains virtual or phone consultation availability for employees who are at remote sites or teleworking.
  • Provides case management, advocacy, outreach and/or follow-up.
  • Leads and facilitates team discussions or sessions around mental health topics, reducing stigma, and promoting help-seeking behaviors.

Documentation and Data Management

  • Maintains case records and documenting encounters in a confidential employee health record system.
  • Participates in data collection, review studies, and research projects related to employee mental health incidence, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Evaluates impact, effectiveness, sustainability, and scalability of services.
  • Analyzes and presents trends and provides recommendations to appropriate stakeholders and leaders, either upon request or as part of a regular case presentation for peer review or meeting.

Strategic Planning and Collaboration

  • Collaborates with internal and external partners, sharing best practices and lessons learned.
  • Participates in various internal partner, department, or mission meetings and acts as a liaison and subject matter expert.
  • Provides training and educational resources on relevant/current topics/events to team members, staff and the community.
  • Provides support and guidance to colleagues through thought partnership debrief sessions and best practice sharing.


Responsibilities

  • A Master’s Social Work (MSW) required. Health care experience preferred.
  • Effective January 1, 2011, Certificate of Clinical Social Work Associate (CSWA) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required for employees who practice clinical social work.
  • Qualifications

    • 5 years of related experience, including directly working in counseling or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience providing case management, crisis intervention, and/or mental health services for clients in crisis and/or at high risk for suicide
    • Experience in maintaining a referral base and creating linkage to relevant resources.
    • Significant experience and demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations, including race, culture, disability, gender, gender orientation, and age.
    • Demonstrated ability in project management or program coordination
    • Demonstrated ability or experience in developing educational programs
    • Exceptional organizational skills
    • Professional experience working with employees, university students, and/or medical providers and trainees in a healthcare setting
    • Experience providing counseling/psychotherapy to other mental health professionals.
