KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Registry Respiratory Therapist

REQUIRED: Education and/or licensure requirements: Graduate of an approved two-year School of Respiratory Care or equivalent with current credentials of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

Must have current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification (CPR).

Must have a valid State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practioner License.

Be able to apply the learned principles, methods, and techniques of Respiratory Care, the use, care and operation of Respiratory Care equipment and supplies.

Must know the various locations of departments within the hospital, their policies and procedures.21. Compliant with PPD requirements.

Experience Six (6) to twelve (12) months of previous experience in an inpatient care setting is desirable. Interpersonal

Skills: Professional , and communication skills are required.

Ability to work with an ulturally diverse patient and employee population in an effective and efficient manner that promotes teamwork, optimizes patient outcomes and efficiently utilizes available resources.

Analytical Abilities: Ability to accurately assess patient needs in conjunction with physician written orders to determine the most effective therapy or treatment modality to optimize patient outcome. Ability to effectively and efficiently participate in critical situations relying upon learned skills and experience.

Other Required Skills: Must meet the requirements for employment with the hospital as outlined under

General Job requirements Personnel-policy 7-0, and in addition must meet specific job specific qualifications.

Participates in weekend and holiday schedule rotations. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing, radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a hospital setting. Works indoors.
