Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Engineer based in the United States.
Join an innovative, AI-native technology company transforming how businesses buy, manage, and sell single-family rental properties through high-quality market intelligence. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will build data products that turn complex real estate information into actionable insights for customers. Working closely with Data Science and Product teams, you will design scalable data architectures, reliable pipelines, and intuitive data models that support critical business decisions. Your work will directly shape customer-facing products rather than serve solely as internal infrastructure. In a small, quality-focused engineering team, you will help establish technical standards, influence platform architecture, and improve data reliability. This remote opportunity offers the chance to combine technical leadership with meaningful impact in a rapidly evolving real estate technology market.
As a Senior Data Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will lead the development of reliable, scalable data products while helping define the engineering practices that support continued growth. Your responsibilities will include:
Data Architecture and Modeling: Design durable, scalable data models that represent residential real estate concepts clearly and intuitively, enabling customers to access and interpret complex market information.
Data Pipeline Development: Build and maintain robust data pipelines and workflows that transform information from diverse sources into accurate, reliable, and high-quality data assets.
Data Platform Architecture: Contribute to the overall architecture and evolution of the data platform, ensuring its scalability, reliability, maintainability, and suitability for customer-facing products.
Data Product Development: Collaborate with Data Science and Product teams to build and deliver data products that support customer needs across underwriting, leasing, vendor management, and other single-family rental operations.
Engineering Standards and Best Practices: Establish and promote data engineering standards, architectural principles, and development practices that improve code quality, data integrity, and operational efficiency.
Workflow Orchestration and Reliability: Design, schedule, and operate batch data processing workflows, ensuring dependable execution, monitoring, and timely delivery of data assets.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction within a small engineering team, contribute to important engineering decisions, and help continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of the data platform.
Real Estate Domain Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of the residential real estate and single-family rental markets to ensure data models and products accurately reflect industry concepts and customer requirements.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate combines strong data engineering expertise with sound architectural judgment and an interest in building customer-facing data products. You should be comfortable working in a small team, solving complex technical challenges, and taking ownership of data systems from design through production. Key qualifications include:
At least 6 years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
Strong expertise in data architecture, data modeling, and building scalable data pipelines.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Apache Spark.
Extensive experience with cloud data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery.
Experience scheduling, operating, and maintaining batch data processing workflows.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to design reliable, maintainable data systems.
The ability to establish engineering best practices and contribute to architectural decisions.
Effective collaboration skills, particularly when working with Data Science and Product teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
An ownership-oriented mindset and a commitment to data quality, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Curiosity and willingness to develop domain expertise in residential real estate and the single-family rental industry.
Additional qualifications that are a plus:
Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
Knowledge of data warehouse architecture and Change Data Capture (CDC) modeling techniques.
Experience with web scraping and extracting data from public or semi-structured sources.
Familiarity with AI and machine learning platforms such as Amazon SageMaker, MLflow, or similar technologies.
Hands-on experience managing data platform infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Docker, and AWS services.
Benefits:
Remote work: Full-time remote position.
Technical ownership: Build customer-facing data products that directly deliver value to businesses operating in the single-family rental market.
Technical leadership: Influence data platform architecture and establish engineering standards and best practices.
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Data Science and Product teams to develop impactful data solutions.
Innovation-focused environment: Contribute to an AI-native platform operating at the intersection of real estate, data, and technology.
Professional growth: Develop expertise in real estate market intelligence, scalable data systems, and modern AI-driven data products.
Inclusive workplace: Join an organization committed to fair hiring practices and equal opportunity.
Accessibility support: Reasonable accommodations are available throughout the recruitment process for candidates who need them.
