Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Product Counsel in United States.
This role offers a unique opportunity to join a fast-scaling technology organization at a pivotal stage of growth, where legal strategy directly shapes product innovation. You will act as a key legal partner to product, engineering, and design teams, guiding the full lifecycle of new features and platform capabilities. The position sits at the intersection of law, technology, and innovation, with a strong focus on AI, data, and privacy considerations. You will help define how advanced data products are built responsibly, balancing speed, scale, and regulatory rigor. Working closely with senior technical and business leaders, you will translate complex legal frameworks into practical, actionable guidance. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for a business-minded legal professional who thrives in dynamic, high-growth environments.
- Serve as a founding member of the product legal function, partnering closely with product, engineering, and design teams across the entire product development lifecycle.
- Provide legal guidance on AI/ML, data privacy, intellectual property, and open-source software issues related to new and evolving product features.
- Draft, review, and negotiate technology licensing agreements, integration partnerships, and ecosystem collaboration contracts.
- Develop and maintain product-specific legal frameworks, terms of service, policies, and documentation supporting scalable product launches.
- Advise on open-source compliance strategy and ensure proper governance of licensing obligations across products.
- Support M&A-related product integration activities, including IP diligence, policy alignment, and customer-facing legal transitions.
- Collaborate with Privacy, Security, and GRC teams to embed privacy-by-design principles and manage incident response obligations.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- 4–8 years of legal experience, ideally combining Big Law and in-house roles within a technology environment.
- Strong expertise in product counseling, with deep knowledge of AI/ML, privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA), IP, and open-source licensing.
- Experience advising on SaaS, data platforms, or infrastructure products is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical business and product guidance.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, excellent judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Bonus: experience with AI regulatory frameworks such as the EU AI Act or training data governance.
- Competitive compensation package with a typical U.S. salary range of $250,000–$275,000 USD, depending on experience and location.
- Equity in the company through stock options for all employees.
- Flexible, remote-friendly work environment across multiple countries.
- Employer-supported healthcare coverage.
- Flexible time off policy in the U.S. and generous vacation allowances internationally.
- Home office stipend to support remote work setup.
- Opportunities for global offsites and in-person team gatherings.
- Inclusive, values-driven culture in a high-growth technology environment.
