Ace STIHL Technician
Reports to: Store Manager Shift: Varies
POSITION SUMMARY
The STIHL Technician serves as the in-store expert for all power
equipment—helping customers select the right tools for their projects, educating
associates on proper use and selling techniques, and ensuring the financial
integrity, service quality, and merchandising excellence of the power equipment
department. This role combines technical skill, customer service, and sales
leadership to deliver an exceptional experience for every customer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Customer Engagement
Drive power equipment sales to meet and exceed department goals.
Assist in setting sales and margin objectives for power equipment and accessories.
Grow contractor and commercial sales by delivering exceptional service and
proactively anticipating customer needs.
Create and execute power equipment promotions, in-store events, and
demonstrations.
Participate in all power equipment events and marketing initiatives.
Maintain a professional, customer-ready appearance for yourself and the
STIHL/service department.
Technical Service & Repairs
Perform equipment repairs in an organized, timely, and professional manner.
Prepare accurate billing for each repair using appropriate SKUs, including warranty
work.
Maintain a reliable warranty reimbursement process to ensure all claims are
properly filed and paid.
Continue education and training to advance certification levels and maintain
recertification.
Department Operations
Check in all power equipment invoices and verify serial numbers for accuracy.
Maintain inventory integrity, including stock levels, accurate counts, and proper
tagging.
Generate power equipment orders as needed to support sales and customer
demand.
Keep the department updated with all Ace and brand-specific signage and
merchandising materials.
Ensure the power equipment department and service area remain clean, organized,
and efficiently laid out.
Communicate equipment, inventory, or operational needs to the Store Manager.
Work scheduled Saturdays as part of regular responsibilities.
Perform additional tasks assigned by management to improve sales, productivity, or
customer service.
Leadership & Training
Educate associates on power equipment features, benefits, safety requirements,
and selling techniques.
Monitor proper use of safety equipment among associates.
STIHL Gold Technicians: Train and mentor Silver and Bronze Techs for at least 1
hour weekly; document all training.
STIHL Silver & Bronze Technicians: Provide weekly training for associates to build
department knowledge; document all sessions.
Attend power equipment meetings and stay current with industry trends, new
technologies, and product advancements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of STIHL training through Gold Certification or equivalent (or
active progress toward certification).
Strong understanding of power equipment systems including e-service, e-sales,
warranty processing, parts lookup, product registration, and safety guidelines.
Excellent communication skills with customers, associates, and management.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with high attention to detail.
Proficiency with retail computer systems; MS Word and Excel experience preferred.
Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and
holidays.
Commitment to ongoing learning and staying informed on industry and product
trends.
