Job Summary
Friday Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced EHS/Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer for a full-time opportunity. This position is responsible for leading environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs while driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in regulatory compliance, Lean Manufacturing, process improvement, and project management within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)
• Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify workplace hazards.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and safety incidents while implementing corrective actions.
• Lead employee safety training and promote a strong safety culture.
• Monitor environmental compliance, including hazardous waste, air emissions, stormwater, and chemical management.
• Maintain all required safety documentation, permits, reports, and regulatory records.
• Support emergency response planning and facility safety initiatives.
Continuous Improvement (CI)
• Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement projects.
• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, reduced waste, and improved productivity.
• Utilize data analysis and performance metrics to drive operational improvements.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop standard work instructions, process documentation, and value stream maps.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
• Track project progress and report key performance indicators (KPIs).
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
• Previous experience in an EHS, Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing Engineer, or Industrial Engineer role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental compliance regulations.
• Experience leading Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen initiatives.
• Knowledge of root cause analysis, value stream mapping, and process optimization.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing data analysis tools.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
Work Environment
• Manufacturing facility with exposure to and industrial environments.
• Frequent interaction with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams.
• Combination of office work and time spent on the manufacturing floor.
• Occasional lifting, walking, and standing throughout the facility.
Experience:
• Environmental Health & Safety (EHS): 3+ years preferred
• Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement: 3+ years preferred
• Manufacturing Engineering: Preferred
