The Opportunity: Plant Operator-Whitehorse
We're hiring 3 full-time, 8-month term Plant Operators based in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Ready to put your technical skills to work where they matter most? As a Plant Operator, you'll play a key role in operating Yukon Energy's generating facilities and supporting the reliable delivery of electricity that Yukoners depend on every day.
What will you do: As a member of the Operations team, you will:
- Safely operate Yukon Energy's diesel and natural gas generating units and their auxiliary equipment.
- Monitor plant operations and respond to system disturbances and seasonal operating changes.
- Maintain compliance with corporate policies and safety standards while supporting the safe and efficient operation of Yukon Energy's generating facilities.
What you need to succeed:
- Preference for 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate or relevant trade experience.
- Knowledge at the grade 12 level plus some vocational training in light maintenance and operation of electrical generation equipment
- Several years of previous related work experience.
- Forklift training
- LNG specific training (cryogenic properties and hazards)
- Proven history of operating electrical generation equipment
- A valid class 5 driver’s license.
- A valid First Aid certificate.
- WHIMIS and TDG training
- Fall Arrest training
- Confined space certificate
- Knowledge of Windows based computer software applications.
- Ability to work in a team and cross-cultural environment.
- A proven track record and commitment to safe procedures and encouraging a safe work environment.
