Hospice Volunteer Coordinator

Position Summary
-
Under general supervision of the unit director and using independent judgment, provides assistance with hospice program performing a set of diverse duties.
Under general supervision and as part of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Care Team (ICT) is responsible for: developing, implementing and supervising the Volunteer Program and for delivery of related services. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

Organizational Requirements:

Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
-
Work experience with one of the voluntary agencies working in a health related field.

Experience in hospice environment.
-

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
-
High school graduate or equivalent and two years of related experience; health care preferred
-
Ability to provide a full range of clerical services including use of discretionary judgment in dispensing information; ability to compose letters or memoranda, prepare reports and establish and maintain records, files; ability to deal effectively with the public, co-workers and volunteers in a courteous manner.

Knowledge of basic spelling, punctuation, grammar and basic business math; knowledge of general office practices and procedures and knowledge of human relations skills.

· Strong interpersonal communication skills

· Ability to analyze problems, determine corrective measures and initiate corrective action within the limits of operational policy. Ability to supervise effectively. Demonstrates a professional attitude.

Knowledge and understanding of the Hospice concept; ability to work effectively with people of all ages; ability to understand oral and written communication; ability to coordinate people and jobs appropriately; ability to exercise independent judgment within the scope of the position; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to prioritize multiple work demands and work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
