Accountant in Vestavia Hills, Alabama at Metal Solutions LLC DBA Jemison Metals

Jemison Metals is seeking an accountant based in Birmingham, AL. The role will be responsible for day-to-day transactional accounting activities and assistance in the following areas: accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, cash application, cash management, reconciliations, and month-end close.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Actively participate in the month-end and year-end close process, identifying and investigating variances.
• Participate in annual budgeting process, as needed.
• Prepare documentation and schedules for external auditors and assist with internal compliance requests.
• Produce various financial reports as directed.
• Evaluate current accounting procedures and recommend ways to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and reduce costs.
• Work with various departments to track expenses and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Assure compliance with GAAP, applicable laws, rules, regulations, and other applicable directives.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 1–3 years of hands-on accounting experience.
