Job Description
The Pulpo Group is a visionary hospitality company redefining the style and standard of exceptional experiences in the communities we serve. As the parent company behind three of Ann Arbor's most beloved restaurants: Sava's, Aventura, and The Dixboro Project, plus our newly opened Orijin Bakery, we are proud to help shape the city's unique dining culture through creativity, hospitality, and community connection.
The Facilities Director directs the safety, upkeep, and beautification of every Pulpo Group property, indoors and out. Working alongside our CEO, property teams, vendors, and contractors, you'll make sure every space is pristine and running beautifully for our guests and teams.
What you'll do
- Oversee building systems across all properties, including mechanical, electrical, fire safety, plumbing, and waste management, plus the details guests notice: custodial, landscaping, parking, and snow and trash removal
- Manage vendor, contractor, landlord, and utility relationships, negotiating contracts and finding smart ways to save
- Keep every property in step with MiOSHA, building, and local zoning requirements
- Build and run preventative maintenance calendars and work order schedules, planned to cause as little disruption to service as possible
- Shape and lead remodel and maintenance projects, from scope of work and resources to contractor oversight, making sure stakeholder feedback makes it into the plan
- Medical coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network, with four plan options including an HSA-eligible plan and a monthly company contribution toward your premium, plus dental and vision coverage, starting the first of the month after 60 days
- 401(k) retirement plan with company matching and profit-sharing contributions set each year, available after two months of employment for team members 21 and older
- A paid vacation bank of 80 hours per year, available after 90 days and renewed every April (plus a week "off" between Christmas and New Year's - restaurants are still open!)
- Paid sick time: earn 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 72 hours per year
- Peace of mind: company-paid short-term disability insurance that replaces two-thirds of your base pay (up to $750 per week) for up to 13 weeks, plus optional life insurance for you, your spouse, and your children
- One manager meal per shift, 50% off at your home restaurant, and 25% off at our other restaurants on your days off
- The chance to build your career with one of the region's most successful hospitality groups, where we expect and support your personal and professional growth
- An experienced facilities, maintenance, operations, or construction leader, ideally with hospitality or restaurant experience
- Knowledgeable in building systems, safety, and regulatory compliance (MiOSHA), and committed to keeping your skills current in operations, engineering, construction, and facilities management
- A sharp problem-solver with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, who manages multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with a sense of urgency
- Comfortable managing budgets and expenses, including negotiating contracts and tracking spend with the Controller
- A clear, trusted communicator who builds relationships at every level, from line teammates to senior leadership to vendors, and who knows when to ask for help
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, including tools, supplies, and equipment
- Walk, stand, climb stairs, and use ladders for extended periods while inspecting properties and overseeing projects
- Work in varied conditions, including kitchens, mechanical spaces, rooftops, and outdoors in Michigan weather
- Bend, kneel, and reach in tight spaces to inspect and assess equipment
- Travel between Pulpo properties and be reachable for urgent facility needs
